The PST02-1A sensor includes 4 different functions: motion sensor, opening sensor, temperature sensor and light sensor. It consists of two parts: the sensor itself and a magnet. These are designed to be placed on a door or window with the magnet attached to the opening portion and the sensor on the fixed part.
This sensor can also be used for the home security or automation. When the detector is associated with security devices, it triggers an alert by detecting changes in the levels of infra-red radiation or the opening of a door/window. If a person moves within the sensor's field of vision or opens a door/window, a radio signal is transmitted, which in turn triggers an alarm to deter intruders.
The sensor can also be used in combination with a Z-Wave controller for home automation, by detecting both a presence or the opening of a door/window and changes in light levels. This way it can trigger a light being switched on when it detects a movement or a door opening in the dark.
The sensor can also be used to raise lighting or temperature levels, either because it has detected a significant change or whenever a movement or an opening/closing is detected.
