ZigBee technology allows to create a wireless mesh network with low cost and low power consumption. This technology can be widely deployed for wireless control and monitoring applications. The low power consumption of ZigBee products provides longer battery life. The mesh network provides high communication reliability and extended range.

This ZigBee expansion module allows the Zipabox to communicate with all ZigBee compatible devices and integrate them into a unified home automation network. Since the majority of smart energy meters support ZigBee, the Zipabox becomes even more attractive to consumers, telecom operators and utilities to integrate smart metering applications within the connected home.

The ZigBee module plugs into the Zipabox expansion connector (Slot 2).
